The summer rain storms can bring in some of the most amazing cloud formations.

It may take some time but after hiking around the sandstone formations at White Pocket you really start to notice that these formations are actually petrified sand dunes.
Sandstone Hot Tub
Water will always find the lowest point and in this case a slight depression on the top of a sandstone plateau.
I was hiking along the top of a wide flat sandstone plateau when I came across this wonderful natural sculpture.

Through The Ages
This was the only sandstone column that was still standing on top of this unusual plateau.
Hiking a remote canyon we found these large sandstone boulders that had broken off from the cliffs above. It was like we were hiking through an ancient ruin.
It was interesting to see rolling clouds that may last a few hours come in over granite formations that are 1.4 billion years old.
Land Of Contrast
A storm front moves across the Granite Dells creating an amazing scene of light and shadows.
A dark storm front moves through the Granite Dells but a open spot in the clouds allows just enough sunlight to highlight a central plateau and create a wonderful display of contrasting light.
