Juvenile Elf Owl
During our time living in Tucson we were fortunate to have open desert behind our place. This area happened to be very active for desert birds. Sometimes before going to bed I would turn on the back porch flood lights to check for any animal activity. On this night we had quite a surprise as two juvenile Elf Owls came out of the Palo Verde tree and started to eat the bugs that were attracted to the porch lights. It was amazing to watch them fly around and one even landed on the back gate for full frame closeup's. It was just one of those amazing animal encounters and one that was never repeated during our eight years of living there.
